Daddy carrying a daughter on his shoulders at a carnival in the Bible say about Stewardship article.

bible verses on stewardship of money

This inquiry got me excited when I came across it. Speaking from the perspective as a minister of the Gospel, I hope to answer this question with clarity for all those who would like to know.

The Bible has so much to say about stewardship. Therefore, the topic can take on a variety of answers and directions.

Stewardship is a subject that could fit into many different areas of life. Frankly, this is what is so fascinating about the Holy Bible.

The Bible teaches stewardship in many different ways with the same verses of scripture. Yet the individual can come away with an entirely new outlook. Let’s look into some specific passages so you can become enlightened by what I’m saying.

1 Peter 4:10

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace”:

Someone could interpret this message to mean whatever gift they have is to serve mankind with it whenever possible. This is also a very true and accurate way to understand and apply this concept. Also, someone could read this passage and it may minister to them in an entirely different light.

What are the Four Main Qualities of a good steward?

  • A Christian steward is compassionate.
  • A Christian steward is loyal.
  • A Christian steward is obedient.
  • A Christian steward is prayerful.

Proverbs about stewardship

A Christian Steward is compassionate.

For an individual guilty of some act of wrongdoing, they would see the grace of the Lord from this verse. The mercy of God is also a key factor to them in some way.

The person with criminal charges against him, would instead receive the gift of the Lord’s mercy. There are verses on stewardship that can take on the form of parenting and having dominion on the earth.

Genesis 1:28

“And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Stewardship is about holding ourselves accountable for our actions. If you’re a parent, it will even require the accountability of the children to a certain extent.

Although, children can be completely unruly and out of control at times, yet the bible gives a solution for it.

It gives the parents the authority figure within every household to enforce the biblical standard to train their children.

Kids learn their best structure while they are in their early formative years.

A Christian Steward is Obedient.

Stewardship is teaching toddlers how to be respectful and obedient to all the rules and regulations enforced in the world.

    Proverbs 22:6

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Many broken families today have issues that relate to the matter of the home’s upbringing.

Taking into consideration, people have different views about Jesus in general which would factor into the various parenting styles of choice.

The national foundation of our family structure could be healthier with more biblical practices available in the home.

Yes, to voluntarily stray away from the guidelines of the Bible is a choice also.

However, the result behind this decision is indeed a real sacrifice in most cases.

 A Christian Steward is Loyal.

Naturally, children may rebel.

Ordinarily, parents would be wise to expect this. Nonetheless discipline and structure equates to genuine love for kids according to numerous scripture references.

When we talk about stewardship, it reminds me of Jesus’s words to His disciples says in

St. John 14:15 “If you love me keep my commandments.”

Here we see Jesus is the superior authority figure in this passage.

The Lord is talking with His disciples as little children.

This is not intended to belittle them but to get their immediate attention to focus.

They’re getting some valuable spiritual training on how to cope with life right before The Lord’s crucifixion and resurrection was to take place.

Jesus isolated them alone with Himself as if to get their undivided attention.

Each word He spoke was with such immense importance.

I can imagine the disciples all sitting around a campfire at night somewhere in the wilderness with Jesus.

The Lord says to them, hey guys I really need you all to understand what I am saying, if I may paraphrase a little right here.

There are some events coming up that you want to prepare for in advance.

This conversation is private and yet a high priority so that you are aware of Who I am in the Father.

In addition, you will have a much better understanding of why and what I must do.

Jesus spoke powerful mysteries to them.

Once His disciple received, understood and followed Jesus’s Word, it would carry each of them into a realm of divine wisdom.

This would last them throughout the rest of their life.

In addition, this is just as true for us today as it was when Jesus actually spoke them to His followers.

What’s so magnificent about all of this is that THE WORDS OF CHRIST LIVES ON FOREVER AND IS TRUTH!

Stewardship has a certain demeanor that should be evident among those who represent Jesus in the world today.

 Titus 1:7

“For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain,”

Many people have such a broad sense of conduct in areas where the Bible is more specific and vice versa.

Although, The Messiah spent some time here on earth as the Son of Man.

We still cannot deny that The Lord was also divine. Jesus is both the Son of God and the Son of Man.

Even though it is quite apparent in scripture, people often disregard the fact that The Lord expects our thinking to be like Christ.

This mind transformation should take place while we are on earth, the more a believer studies the Word of God and implements its teachings.

Many things that the Bible instructs the believer to do, is without the intention to achieve it in our human efforts.

More importantly my friend, without the assistance of the Holy-Spirit, the standards of Christ and His requirements are impossible to achieve on our own accord.

We’re all capsized within a sinful nature on earth and even our righteousness is as a filthy rag in comparison to The Lord’s Glory and HIS presence.

Clearly, Jesus has some distinctions regarding the behaviors that He will approve and disapprove.

I believe with all my heart, these verses above are not for us to quickly point the finger at anyone in particular.

On the contrary, we should all be mindful of what the Bible requires.

This serves us with better equipment to pray for our neighbors. It works even if they may have fallen away from grace.

Prayer can prevent us from reacting to our neighbor’s unkind attitudes.

Christian Stewards are Prayerful.

Anyone who is a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ can vouch that prayer is an absolute necessity.

Communication with the Lord is the basis of the Christian faith along with having the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

We are equipped for battles in the invisible realm through the Word of God and prayer.

This is how the Spirit of Jesus Christ reveals Himself to His people.

The Lord develops us with such keen supernatural sensibilities by how available we are to His Spirit.

Some devote more time to fellowship with the Holy Spirit than others.

This would explain why there are so many different levels of maturity within the Christian faith.

There are people who give off the impression as if it is ok to imitate or counterfeit another person’s spiritual gift as their own.

This is Not how Jesus Christ operates.

The disciples of Jesus are a prime example that no one is a direct copy of anyone else.

Yet these twelve men were all chosen by Jesus (the Son of God) for specific reasons.

Therefore, any spiritual elevation or promotion that the Lord intends for you to receive, it will be given in prayer first.

The gift will have a unique flavor that’s tailor made for your personality.

Prayer is so personal.

It requires your free will to accept your destiny and its fulfillment at your own will.

The only way one will have the full assurance to their purpose is through knowledge of the Gospel and the communication with the Holy Spirit on a regular basis.

Why is stewardship important in Christianity?

Stewardship is about maintaining a level head and a rational outlook especially where there’s chaos and rage present.

Christianity is advertising our stewardship much like Jesus professed His deity.

We cannot fake it, you either have it or you don’t.

This kind of accountability is evident privately and publicly in the lifestyle of a modern disciple of Jesus.

In conclusion, without Christ as the Lord and Savior of an individual’s life, there will be a lack of moral standards, spiritual boundaries and respectable qualities.

Receiving Salvation is primary and today is essential because tomorrow is promised to none of us.
