Implementing Ways of Surviving a Faith Crisis

How to survive a Faith Crisis

The best way to surviving a faith crisis is to have a good support team of people who can give wise biblical counsel.

It is also recommended to adopt a routine prayer life with Jesus Christ if you have not already.

Many people often use prayer as their last resort.

However, this is a mistake!

What causes a crisis of faith?

There are a number of various reasons that could cause a faith crisis for an individual.

It often depends on where the person may be in their personal life, such as if they’re mourning a loss in the family, going through a divorce, or perhaps experiencing unemployment to name a couple of possibilities.

What does a crisis of faith look like?

When people are in a faith crisis, it’s human nature to automatically retreat and isolate whenever we face a particular challenge.

This is especially common if we didn’t succeed.

I have noticed that people go through a variety of different emotions when they are surviving a faith crisis such as fear, anger, embarrassment, humiliation to name a few depending on the situation.

The same is true in the world of faith.

There will be things that happen during a crisis that we may not ever come to understand why our faith is being challenged.

In these instances, it’s important to realize that this doesn’t mean that the Lord doesn’t love us.

This also doesn’t necessarily indicate that you’re a terrible person.

There will also be other cases when Jesus will unfold knowledge concerning things that take place in your personal lives.

The Lord will give clear understanding as we grow in our relationship with Him.

What are the 4 Stages of Faith?

There are four basic stages of faith that can be referenced back to the Holy Scriptures, and they are as follows.

  • No Faith
  • Little Faith
  • Full Faith
  • Great Faith

For any individual surviving a faith crisis, having a receptive spirit is the basic element.

It determines when someone is ready and mature enough to understand how the bible principles relates to their circumstances.

An active church attendance is the conduit for teaching us to be spiritually and mentally open to the Holy-Spirit.

This usually occurs within the parameters of a consistent prayer life.

The Bible teaches us that wisdom is the principal thing and in all our getting, we need to strive towards getting an understanding too.

The Holy Spirit will reveal certain things to us as we continue to make ourselves available to HIM.

More importantly, we should become comfortable with ask Him for His help in our everyday situations as a result of praying daily.

Psalms 32:8 says,

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go…”

Proverbs 11:14

“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”

The Lord knows that the human nature is not perfect.

This is the reason why HE came to save the world.

We all need someone higher than ourselves who can bare the frailties of mankind’s imperfections.

Christ is the only Savior who could take on the griefs, disappointments, guilt and shame of the entire world upon HIMSELF as He was nailed to a cross.

Jesus also was resurrected with all power in HIS hands of Heaven and earth.

HE redeemed mankind to have access to the righteousness of God through repentance and salvation.

The work of redemption is a price that no one on earth could ever pay.

Ephesians 2: 8-9

“For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.”

How do you get out of a faith crisis?

The requirement for our salvation had to come from a Heavenly Divine being who is born sinless in every way.

There’s nothing that anyone could ever do that would cause the Lord to stop loving them as a person that is surviving a faith crisis.

We must not confuse the Messiah’s characteristics with HIS personality as the Christ.

They are both valid- components but yet different aspects to be considered within One Master.

We have the biblical proof to support this.

Proverbs 6:16-19 explains what the Lord hates.

Jeremiah 31:3 that says,

“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”

So how are we supposed to process these emotions?!

We are to seek out the wisdom of the Lord using the Holy Scriptures as written in the Bible.

This is where our regular Church attendance comes into play.

It is not ever advisable for anyone to try and counsel themselves.

We can however always seek out the wise counsel of a Pastor or any other Ministry Leader within our local church for spiritual guidance and advice.

This is why it is so critical that we are being taught the Word of The Lord properly.

Above everything, we are to live The Word of the Lord through our actions.

What are some examples of faith persecution?

People often become emotionally wounded by those whom they imagined would never betray them.

Everyone who may be a member of a church community is still not necessarily a qualified person to be your confidante.

On the contrary, an individual who is not affiliated with your church organization should not be automatically written off as a confidante for you either.

Therefore, both accounts should be taken under serious consideration.

This is why prayer is so important.

In combination with those The Lord has placed around us they should skillfully guide the wounded through such difficult times.

These clergymen should be implementing educational values from strong biblical principles in their counselling sessions.

They are NOT to counsel from their own agenda or personal interests. The origin behind all their advice given should be strictly from The Word of God.

Persecution is such a broad subject within itself.

Christians are also suffering persecution in ways of being insulted, torture, beaten, arrested, humiliated, intimidated all for their beliefs in Christ Jesus.

Although, we can confess and ask for forgiveness, nobody totally escape the judgment of the Sovereign Lord and King for the hatred they’ve imputed on others.

Yes, the Lord’s presence is our comfort.

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Yet The Lord didn’t intend for us to ever feel alone or abandoned in our own surroundings.

What is it called when you abandon your faith?

It is apostacy when someone decides to completely abandon their faith or embrace an opinion that is contrary to their previous religious beliefs.

Can apostasy be forgiven?

Absolutely. Apostasy can certainly be forgiven.

We have a scripture that so graciously reminds us of this is possibility.

1st John 1:7

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sins.”

Clearly, The Lord cares about everything that concerns us.

He also wants us to be willing to reach out to the right people for assistance when it’s necessary.

The Lord provides to His people with divine insight.

This is indeed a great character judgment gift to possess.

It will give a sense of balance and wisdom.

In addition, having spiritual insight can keep us from becoming too emotionally isolated.

Friendship is important but also an extremely high commodity these days for many people to prove themselves worthy of such a position.

So, I humbly recommend that one should be careful not to discount their friendship.

Also don’t give it away to just anyone especially whenever you’re already emotionally vulnerable when you’re surviving a faith crisis.

This could be a trap and you will regret it later.

Pray about who you think your friends should be first.

Then wait for a satisfaction to overcome your mind and heart whether the answer was a yes or no from the Spirit of God.

How Do You Survive Religious Trauma?

Totally unaware, people often look for help in the company of the ones who are preying upon them.

This can happen with anyone.

Whenever we’re not thinking clearly it often has some pretty awful drawbacks and consequences.

I am sure you may have heard someone say, “I don’t go to church because all they want is your money.”

Another common phrase that gives the Church a bad wrap is “They’re all hypocrites.”

Friends, this isn’t true about the Body of Christ at all.

Jesus who did No Wrong was hated without a cause.

Naturally, these things would most likely be said about the Church because it represents Christ.

Ordinarily they have no real basis other than coming from a wounded individual that may have experienced an emotional injury within the church.

Is Anxiety A Crisis of Faith?

Anxiety can most definitely become a crisis primarily if it is not ever addressed and well managed.

We overcome anxiety with the Word of God. 1st Timothy 1:7 reminds of something important.

“God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.”

Please consider the source is the main idea here before we adopt negative concepts as our own.

Even-though most people know this but as someone who may be surviving a faith crisis, we still have to be reminded of two simple truths, there are bad seeds everywhere and nobody is perfect.

On the other hand, we’re not saying that we should lie down and allow others to walk all over us either.

No and absolutely not.

Christianity isn’t about being a doormat.

That would be abuse.

Neither should we conclude with believing that everything and everyone involved with Christ is mean and cruel.

No one likes to be stereotyped, yet this is often a disrespectful light that the church is positioned to stand under in the eyes of many people.

The greatest blessings can be discovered from the ones we least expect to have anything of substance to offer.

In Matthew 14:17-79

Jesus used a little boy’s lunch of five loaves and two fishes to feed a multitude after praying and giving Thanks to His Father.

We do ourselves a dis-service to prejudge the Church of Jesus Christ.

HE is not held captive by any of our idiosyncrasies spoken out of a wounded spirit.

Quite frankly, until we are completely healed by the Lord everything may look and feel distorted to us anyway.

Psalms 107:20

“He sent His Word and healed them and delivered them from their destruction.

Psalm 147:3

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
